Raku

Raku is a spectacular ancient firing technique! If you have ever wanted to try it, now is your chance. Unlike most ceramic firing processes, Raku is a very fast process. Red-hot pieces are removed from the kiln and then smothered with sawdust and newspaper to create flashes of color in the glazes. After pieces begin to cool, they are dunked in water to speed the cooling process and set the colors. The course fee includes two bisque pots and all glazes. Dress for the mess and bring a small bag of sawdust. Bring snacks and refreshments to enjoy during the glazing and firing process.
