What do You Really Want to Do: Roping your Dream

Entering retirement can mean having the time to do what you have always wanted to do. The challenge is to identify that dream and make it happen. Workshop leader Monte Alkire has done just that and even written a book to describe how. Transitioning from a successful career at Caterpillar, he retired at 55 and made the decision to learn to team rope, a rodeo event. You will learn how he went from an untried beginner through hard work and tenacity to one of the top 20 team ropers at the U.S. Team Roping Championships National Finals. He will share his story with humor and grit as he discusses courage, obstacles, persistence and how to approach tough situations with a level head and a winning heart. He learned that many of his struggles were common as he talked to others pursuing challenging goals. This is an inspiring workshop for anyone wanting to take on a new project. Whether it is learning to play a guitar or starting a new business, this session may help you go forward. Come prepared to have fun, share some of your thoughts and issues, define your goal and jump start your efforts.
