National Weather Service (NWS) in Lincoln

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Lincoln keeps a close eye on the weather, as well as informs and alerts the public for about one-third of Illinois, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. During the tour of the NWS Lincoln facility, you will learn about the tools used by NWS meteorologists to observe the weather and make important forecast and warning decisions. The use of weather balloons, radar, satellite images, other weather measuring equipment, and the computer system that puts all of the information together will be demonstrated. Find out the other duties that NWS staff members take part in to help people make decisions when high impact weather could threaten. Be sure to bring along any weather related questions you may have for the NWS meteorologists!

This trip includes transportation and tour. Participants should plan to eat lunch prior to departure.

Please Note -- Cancellation/Refund Policy for Day Trips: To receive a full refund you must cancel all day trips at least 15 days prior to the day of the trip.
