Community Health Worker

Community Health Workers (CHW) are important frontline public health workers who are trusted memberd of or have an unusually close understanding of the community served. This trusting relationship enables the worker to serve as a liaison between health, social services and the community to facilitate access to services and improve the quality and cultural competence of service delivery. A community health worker also builds individual and community capacity by increasing health knowledge and self-sufficiency through a range of activities such as outreach, community education, informal counseling, social support and advocacy. Are you ready to improve access to care by building bridges between health and social services to the community?

If so, this program is for you. Join ICC Corporate and Community Education for this 6 week certification course, held on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm. Included is 12 sessions of online instruction, and depending on experience a 2 week internship at a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center may be assigned.
