This online class will be entirely conducted within Canvas. You will make appointments to meet with the facilitator online for your required meetings, one of which is orientation. Orientation will consist of completing an assignment and the pre-assessment. Honorlock will be used for the proctored final exam, or you may take the exam in the Testing Center.
Technology requirements are access to a laptop or desktop computer, up-to-date Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox web browsers, and reliable internet, webcam, and microphone.

If you answer a. or b. to all of the questions below, you are welcome to register for the online Biology Bootcamp. If you answered c. for any of the below, you may want to reconsider whether this experience is right for you.

- The Wisdom of Preparedness

Are you aware of the hazards in your neighborhood, community, or Peoria County? Do you have an emergency preparedness kit and plan? If your answer to these questions is no, then join us for discussion on how we can prepare as individuals and families in making our community more resilient to disaster. Learn about how first responders and community partners collaborate in identifying threats to the community and preparing to respond and recover from them.
Objectives:
1. Identify Local Hazards and Vulnerabilities in Peoria County
Participants will learn to recognize the most common natural and human-made hazards specific to their neighborhood and broader Peoria County, using resources like FEMA Risk Maps, the Social Vulnerability Index, and local emergency data. This includes understanding how these risks impact different populations and how community demographics influence preparedness and resilience.
2. Develop a Personalized Emergency Preparedness Plan and Kit
By the end of the course, each participant will be able to create a customized emergency preparedness kit and household plan. This will include evacuation routes, communication strategies, supply checklists, and special considerations for pets, seniors, and individuals with disabilities.
3. Understand Community-Wide Emergency Response and Recovery Systems
Participants will gain insight into how local first responders, emergency management agencies, and community organizations coordinate to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. Students will be introduced to key local partners, their roles, and how to engage with or support community efforts during an emergency.

- "Why Is This So Hard?" Understanding ADHD in Adulthood

Many adults find themselves wondering why tasks that require organization, time management, or follow-through feel harder than expected. This three-session course explores the brain science and psychology of ADHD in adulthood and how differences in executive function affect daily life.
Gain a clearer understanding of attention, motivation, and working memory, and how these patterns influence everyday responsibilities. You will also be introduced to practical systems that reduce reliance on memory and willpower, helping you to begin to experiment with strategies that better fit how your brain works.
This class is open to anyone curious about ADHD in adults, whether diagnosed or not.
Together, we'll:
1. Understand common experiences of ADHD in adulthood and the basic brain processes that influence attention, motivation, and follow-through.
2. Recognize how executive function challenges show up in daily life.
3. Identify practical strategies and systems you can begin to experiment with to support organization, planning, and task completion.

- AARP Smart Driver Course

Cars have changed over the years. So have traffic rules, driving conditions, and the roads you travel every day. By taking the AARP Smart Driver Course, you will learn the current rules of the road, defensive driving techniques, and proven safety strategies to help keep you safe while on the road. Completion of this class may qualify you for a discount on your driving insurance. Please check with your insurance provider to verify. Must attend full eight hours of training to receive certificate.
$10 is the class registration fee collected by ICC. Please pay when you register for the class.
The AARP Fee is $20.00 for AARP members and $25.00 for nonmembers, which can be paid on the day of the class. The facilitator will collect the money before the class. Cash or check payable to AARP due at the time of class. Please bring the correct amount if paying by cash. Bring your Membership card, driver's license, and a pen. Participants must attend the full 4 hours on both days to qualify for the insurance discount, as required by the state of Illinois. Please arrive 20 minutes early for class sign-in. The facilitator is a volunteer and is certified by the Illinois Secretary of State.
